Family favorite!
December 7, 2020
This little set has gotten the most use of any of the toys we have for the grandkids. I am buying another set to send to my niece for her kids. It has held up well and I have run all of the pieces through the top rack of the dishwasher several times.

Favorite gift
December 1, 2020
Daughter loved this gift! At age 3 she opened and wanted to play. Son is 2 and showing some interest with pairing shapes (he is more of a cars & trucks kind of kid) but does need more assistance getting some pieces apart. Vibrant colors encourage day to day play even if not utilizing shapes. We lost the base of the purple cupcake but still one of our favorite toys I considered buying an entirely new set.

yes will buy again
August 31, 2019
Bought 2 sets one for child birthday, one for mamaw's house. Were not identical though. Example: icing color shape in one set is not same color/shape combination as other set. Her set Hexagon is teal, mamaw's set hexagon is yellow. Confused & frustrated her when first learning color shape matching. But very well constructed, durable, interactive.

Good enough to eat!

We use these sorters in our kitchen play area of the three and four year old room at our daycare. The children love them. Not only are they a great creative play toy they introduce mathematical concepts. The children gravitate towards this toy because it is bright and colorful but they don't even realize they are practicing sorting and shape recognition. We love this toy!

Should not smell and need to be washed
February 17, 2018
Nice but it has and Oder and the instructions say it needs to be washed before use. This doesn't make us too comfortable with the product in the hands and mouth of our 3 year old.

Loved by many
December 1, 2017
I provide in-home daycare and am constantly on the lookout for fun, durable and educational toys. These fit the bill. Not sure about all those reviews with the smell issue, I am extremely selective about toys and there was no problem with these. Some were a little harder to pull apart at first, but they have been played with so much it's not really a problem anymore.

My 2 Year Old Loves These!
June 6, 2017
My daughter loves these cupcakes. She plays pretend with them in her play kitchen. But she also really likes pulling them apart and matching the shapes. We also practice with colors asking her to hand us a certain color.

The best part of this is that their customer services department is just amazing!

Cute and durable
January 14, 2017
My daughter got a play kitchen and a ton of toy food for Christmas. These little cupcakes are my favorite and hers, too. As a mom, I love that there is an educational component to the cupcakes with the different shapes on the frosting and on the pan. My daughter loves the bright colors and the realistic look of the cupcakes. They are really durable, so I'm sure I will be having toy cupcakes for dessert for years to come!

Fabulous Fun!
January 9, 2017
This sia great item for the children to play with. I have it for my preschoolers and for my grandchildren as well.
Great for strengthening fine motor skills and dexterity...pulling and pushing the base from the cupcake frosting top to match the shape patterns. Children can learn their colours and shapes as well as play together in dramatic play situations such as Bake Shop...Cooking...Restaurant etc. Love it.

Horrible chemical smell
December 28, 2015
Our two year old daughter loves puzzles. But when I opened the box, the chemical smell was horrible. It didn't go away at all after they were washed and/or put outside. The frosting and cupcake were difficult to pull apart and I don't think the shapes at the bottom of the cupcake tray assist them with learning shapes. Very disappointed in the product that she got for a Christmas gift.

Not As Good As I Hoped
June 26, 2015
Our two year old grandson loves puzzles so I knew these cupcake shape sorters would be a hit. But when I opened the box, the chemical smell was horrible. It didn't go away at all after they were washed. The frosting and cupcake were so difficult to pull apart that I had to use a tool for a couple of them - not at all appropriate for toddlers and small children. Very disappointed...

Smell of product is very strong

Product is excellent other than the horrible acetone smell. I have washed them twice and left them outside over night in -20 weather and they still smell. Not sure if they are safe enough for my toddler to play with.

they smell like nail polish remover
January 8, 2015
I ran them through my dishwasher twice and the smell mostly went away. I hope the company addresses the source of this odor, as it is concerning (I hope it isn't harmful?) because this is a great toy otherwise. My daughter really likes to play with them.

A Yummy Looking Way to Learn
November 30, 2013
We received the Smart Snacks Shape Sorting Cupcakes from Learning Resources & in addition to being ridiculously cute, they are a great teaching tool. The cupcake tops separate from the cups so that you can play a matching game- it's like a shape sorter but for older kids. In matching the shapes so that the cupcakes can be reassembled, the toy encourages shape recognition. {Shapes included are circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, hexagon, star, and heart.} Once your little one has matched the top & bottom of the cupcake, they must then match the cupcake's inner shape to the shape on the inside of the cupcake pan!

The frosting on the cupcakes is very colorful &in addition to making it pretty & appealing, it encourages discussion of colors. My son likes to call them "dark" or "light" blue, green, etc. and for even younger kids, this is a great way to learn their colors in the first place!

Whether your child is working on their shapes or colors, or just having fun, the whole time they'll also be working on their fine motor skills as they disassemble & reassemble the cupcakes & place them into the pan.

This toy is recommended for kids ages 2-6, and since my son {age 4 1/4} has known his colors and shapes for quite awhile, we mostly use these as a very cute pretend play tool. We do still talk about the colors & shapes sometimes though & these would make a really fun and interactive way for kids on the younger end of the recommended age range to learn their colors and shapes or really cement the concepts.

Cute Cupcakes
June 12, 2013
Super cute little cupcakes to learn colors, sorting, and shapes. Can we played as a learning game or just to have fun with pretend food. The tray is a definite bonus!

My only issue was that some were a tad hard to pull apart for the little ones but I believe that as they get used more they loosen up.

A Sweet and Fun Educational Toy
June 10, 2013
The cupcakes pull apart to reveal shapes and to put the cupcakes back together, you have to find the correct pieces of cupcakes (so the shapes that match). You can then match the shape to the bottom of the pan. The featured shapes align with the Kindergarten Common Core Math Standards which are circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, hexagon, star, and heart.

I love this cupcake set and so do my boys! It is tons of fun to play with and use for make-believe and it is also such a great learning tool. I use it to help my boys learn their colors and I love that it has a few colors outside of the primary colors. It's also a great way to help them learn and identify shapes. It also helps them with problem-solving and matching since they have to find the right pieces to put together to create the cupcakes and put them back in the pan. The cupcakes pull apart and put back together easily. The cupcakes and pan are made of quality materials and are very sturdy.

Awesome Product - Many ways to play
June 5, 2013
My daughter can play with these for hours. She loves to take them all apart and match them all back up. Then we will sit with her and ask her for certain color ones to help her work on identifing the colors. These are amazing and have multiple uses. In addition the learning the kids would LOVE to also use them in their play kitchen. Once a week it seems like we have cupcakes "in the oven" before we can play with them.

They created these the perfect size for little hands, they can easily get a hold of them and do what they want as far as putting them together and adding them to the pan.

I love all the amazing, bright and viberant colors that they used for these cupcakes. They make them fun and attractive to the little ones.

A Super Sweet way to Learn our Shapes!
May 1, 2013
There are plenty of things you can learn with the shape sorting cupcakes other than just learning your shapes. Of course pretend play is a great tool that teaches all kinds of things and then you can ask your child what color the star is or maybe ask them to find you the blue cupcake. Tons of ways to learn and tons of fun and at a pretty affordable price!! They were a little hard to pull apart at first but after time they loosened up

Bake and Learn
March 7, 2013
Everyone loves cupcakes! Learning Resources has created this brand new toy for 2013 to draw children into immediate pretend play. While children "bake" and "eat" these little Shape Sorting Cupcakes, they will find there are tons of learning activities built right into the toy.

Children can practice color recognition with the delicious-looking frosted cupcakes. A quick sorting of primary colors (blue, red, yellow) leaves the secondary colors (orange, green, purple), plus a delightful pink and turquoise cupcake!

The tray holds all eight cupcakes and each cupcake features a different shape on the bottom that matches the shape in the tray slot. Children can learn and practice shape names, while sharing cupcakes with brothers, sisters, and friends.

In addition, the frosting comes off the cake part of the cupcake, creating another form of shape sorting and matching for children. The cupcakes are made for smaller hands, so they fit perfectly in a preschooler's hands.

Extend your children's play by asking them what flavor frosting might be green, blue, or pink. Challenge their memory skills by asking them which color has a heart shape on the bottom. There are so many ways to play with the Shape Sorting Cupcakes!
